Weeze + Barcelona: a long weekend in Porto
The screenshots show Flymatch in Italian: buttons and menus are in the same places in every language.
Weeze is a small low-cost airport on the border between Germany and the Netherlands, handy from Düsseldorf, Duisburg and Nijmegen. Barcelona is one of the big hubs of the Mediterranean. Among the destinations they share, Porto is perfect for a long weekend.
How to set up Flymatch
- Who's flying: first traveller with NRN (Weeze), second with BCN (Barcelona).
- When: Flexible dates → month → turn on Long weekend (out on Thursday/Friday, back on Sunday/Monday).
- Options: turn on the Anubi filter if you both work and want to leave after the office.
- Open Porto (OPO): the suggested trips with a solid border are the combinations confirmed for both of you, here Friday → Sunday. Barcelona–Porto flies every day, so Weeze is the constraint.

Once the date is set, check the price and book.
Three days in Porto
- Ribeira and the Dom Luís I Bridge: cross the bridge on foot along the upper deck for the view over the Douro.
- Vila Nova de Gaia: a tour and tasting in a port wine cellar, ideally a small one.
- Livraria Lello and Torre dos Clérigos: go at opening time; later the crowds slow everything down.
- São Bento station: five minutes for the azulejos in the hall.
- Foz do Douro: tram 1 along the river to the ocean, for sunset over the Atlantic.
- Food: a francesinha (one is enough for two) and grilled fish in Matosinhos.
Tip: Porto is all hills. Wear comfortable shoes and leave heavy wheeled suitcases at home: the streets are cobbled.
