Seeing your Erasmus friends again: a long weekend from four cities
The screenshots show Flymatch in Italian: buttons and menus are in the same places in every language.
Once Erasmus, or university, is over, the group scatters: someone stays in the Netherlands, someone finds a job in London, someone goes back to Rome. The wish to meet up again stays, but every attempt runs aground on the same question: where, and when?
If everyone has a Flymatch account, you don't even need to ask which airport each person flies from. Every friend has already saved their airports in their profile: you just add them to the search.
The scenario: you leave from Turin, Lotte lives in Amsterdam, James in London, Chiara in Rome. You want a long weekend in spring.
1. Add your friends to your profile
From the Friends tab of your profile, look up each friend by their @username and send them a friend request. Once they accept, they appear in Your travel friends together with the airports they fly from. Email addresses are never shown.

From here you can already press Plan a trip next to a friend to open a search with them. For a bigger group, though, it's better to start from the search.
2. Build the group from the search
In Who's flying click Add a friend, then the people icon next to the name. Select a friend opens: the list of your contacts, each with their airports. One click and the traveller joins the search with their airports already set.

Repeat for each friend. If a friend's saved airports include train stations (James, for London, also has St Pancras), remove them with the ✕: they're no use for flights. With four travellers and nine airports in all, Flymatch finds 47 destinations everyone can reach with a direct flight.

3. Pick the month and turn on long weekend
In When → Flexible dates select April 2027 and turn on Long weekend. The filter sets the outbound to Thursday or Friday and the return to Sunday or Monday on its own: two or three nights away for a single day off.
While Flymatch checks the real schedules of each route, Checking schedules… appears and the number of destinations may drop. Once the check is done, 27 destinations remain for this group, from Barcelona to Athens, from Dublin to Istanbul.

The month matters as much as the destination. In January, for the same group, a long weekend in Budapest cost €544 for just three people. In spring airlines open more routes and fares go down.
4. Open a destination and pick the date
Let's choose Barcelona, the unofficial capital of Erasmus. Flymatch shows every April weekend that matches the filter, and the map draws everyone's routes.

Choose Thu 15 – Sun 18 Apr: with four full days it's worth taking a day off.
5. Look at everyone's prices
With destination and dates set, Flymatch fetches live prices for each traveller, with times and departure airport.

- You, from Turin: €45
- Lotte, from Amsterdam: €158
- James, from London Gatwick: €66
- Chiara, from Rome: €69
Total: €338 for four people and three nights, about €85 each return. Lotte arrives in the morning, you at lunchtime, James and Chiara in the evening: the first dinner is already sorted.
The times suggested are the cheapest, not always the most convenient: here everyone would fly back early on Sunday morning. With All flights each person can choose a better time, and the total updates straight away.
6. Share, then everyone books their own
With the share icon you copy a link to the full search: group, dates and destination. Send it to the group chat. Everyone opens the same screen, checks their own flights and books with Book.
In short
| Step | Result |
|---|---|
| 4 friends with accounts (TRN, AMS, London, Rome) | Airports imported automatically, 47 shared direct destinations |
| April 2027, long weekend | 27 destinations after the schedule check |
| Barcelona, 15–18 April | €338 for four, about €85 each |
The more friends have an account, the fewer messages you need: for the next reunion, one link is enough.
